RJR - COE Help, Voyager IDs, Planview, Data Direct

RJR - COE Help, Voyager IDs, Planview, Data Direct

Created a Help folder within the COE site on Sharepoint. Added to the folder help documents including zTCodes, Change Requests, Transports and Migrations, and Planview. Planview will be fleshed out as I undergo further training. Notified COE leaders of new folder.

Added a Voyager ID tab to the RICE Master for the purpose of inventorying Voyager IDs and doing future assignments. Assigned new Voyager ID's to the Duty Drawback project.

Attended another session of Planview power user training with Agustin, Ed Bartz, and Dawn Tuttle. Also scheduled a meeting on Monday with Betty Miller to review her use of Planview and Hyperion reporting.

Met with Melvin Kimble and Rick Davidson to discuss direct access to SQL Server from SAP. Melvin had already tested drivers obtained with Informatica (by Data Direct) and they seem to work. He will create a "view" that Rick will use for further testing in Development. If successful, the drivers would be purchased for $2500, which is relatively inexpensive.

RJR - ASUG, Prioritization, BW Class

Made reservations for Laura and me for hotel accommodations for the annual ASUG conference in Atlanta. The hotel - Atlanta Marriott Marquis - is six blocks from the convention center and they provide shuttle service.

Attended the SCO prioritization meeting where it was determined that the Business Liaisons need to identify and separate critical (must-have) work requests from desired (nice to have) requests. The liaisons were to get back to Bret on Thursday with their lists.

Registered Jennifer in a BW370 SAP class; asked question on procedure for obtaining Q access.

RJR - Super Users, Planview, Naming Stds

Busy all day at work. Inserted final slides in deck for presentation at Super User Meeting. Jack Patton had sent his deck for Procurement last night. I loaded onto my flash drive and onto the loaner laptop in the event I could not reach my files from the Plaza Auditorium podium. Arrived in the auditorium around 10:30a for setup for the 11:00a meeting. Meeting went really well and lasted the full hour as planned. Gave out remaining Voyager shirts, and also invited the group to the storage room to pick out Voyager training manuals for their use - extras we needed to give out to clear the room for other purposes.

Had first 2-hr session of Planview Power User training with Agustin and Ed. Session went very well and I now understand some key elements of Planview better than before. Our focus today was on interfaces, work requests and reporting, and portfolios. Our next session will be Friday where we plan to go tab-by-tab.

Met with Bill Noble, Diana, Rao, Keshav, and Sheila to discuss naming standards within the COE for technical related documents. Agreed to 1) store documents within project-named folders, 2) maintain Voyager ID naming structure, i.e., DE001.01, and 3) assign new numbers in groups for new projects where applicable - certainly so for the APO project and duty drawback. Once the project is ready for implementation (or just after), we plan to migrate copies of documents necessary for maintenance to the on-going COE folders. Whether we use the new COE Sharepoint site or continue with the existing Project Voyager Sharepoint site is a matter for later discussion.

Jenny

Our dog Jenny died today. She was 14 years old.

Christopher called this morning about 11:45a to say she had collapsed on the floor and wouldn't move. I came home after lunch and Carol and I sat with her on the floor while Christopher left to return to college.

After it appeared she was not either getting better or worse, we called the vet and took her in. But then her temperature continued to be low and her breathing continued to grow worse.

While we were in the examination room, after having x-rays and blood tests, she passed away in my lap with Carol next to me.

We brought her home and buried her across the creek in our woods. Amanda had painted a colorful stone several years earlier and we relocated it to become Jenny's grave marker.

Jenny was a loved member of the family. We will miss her very much.
